Janathon Day 5 - No Easy Road

Up and out early this morning (6.45am) with a plan to extend my stock 3 mile route with a loop that takes me along a footpath around the tennis courts of Cefnbrynbrain and a newish cycle path that links the villages of Cwmllynfell and Rhosaman which would allow me to enjoy the view of daybreak illuminating the Black Mountain at the western end of the Brecon Beacons.

Hindsight tells me I went out about half an hour too early consequently it proved another slow run as I negotiated the potholes and undulations of pavements, roads and pathways, fought off ninja shaped bushes that loomed out of the darkness at me on the unlit cycle path, made my way along a short trail section and through an ankle deep bog that I had to get through to cross the bridge at Rhosaman and, rather than dawn illumination, took in only the silhouette of the mountains.  Having said all that it was still a hugely enjoyable run and I can sit back and enjoy a rare Saturday off work now by reading other Janathon reports as they are posted.

Day 5's stats...

Distance : 5.32miles
Time : 1:01:30
Music : Wishbone Ash's 1973 album "Wishbone Four" which features the song "No Easy Road"... hence the title of this post (If my timing had been better I could have gone for track two - "Ballad Of The Beacon")

Take them off outside...

  3. Like your headder photo, looks like a good run. Reminds me of some of the cycle paths I run on in Isle of Wight.
